About the Recipe

Help your pup stay refreshed with these simple and nutritious cooling treats! Perfect for warm days, these frozen delights can be served as they are, thawed, or even blended into a slushie.
Important Reminder:
Only give cooling treats to dogs who are warm, not to those showing signs of overheating or heatstroke—always consult a vet if unsure. Serving Suggestions:
- For dogs prone to shivering: Thaw the treat before serving or warm it slightly.
- For dogs who gulp food quickly: Cut into smaller pieces or blend into a slushie.
- Lickmat Option: Smash and spread onto a lickmat for extra enrichment.

Ingredients

300g seedless watermelon, diced

60ml kefir or plain Greek yoghurt

2-3 fresh basil leaves (or ½ tsp dried basil)

Optional: A splash of drinking water if blending is tricky

Fun Variations:

Berry-delicious: Swap watermelon for blueberries or strawberries.

Nutty Delight: Add a teaspoon of 100% peanut or almond butter.

Minty Fresh: Replace basil with fresh mint for a refreshing twist.

Layered Frozen Treats: Freeze half of the watermelon blend first, then add a second layer of Greek yoghurt mixed with another fruit.

Preparation

Blend all ingredients until smooth.

Pour the mixture into moulds or ice cube trays.

Freeze for a few hours (until solid).

Serve and watch your dog's tail wag with joy!
